Our goal at the Pet Play House is to provide a happy, healthy, stress-free experience for your pet. Dogs are social animals that have adapted to our domestic human environment. Because of this, we believe it is important to provide the comforts, sights, sounds, and feel of home, as well as the social need to be with the pack. Owners can rest assured that their canine family member is in a peaceful, fun, and safe luxury establishment. Humans too can enjoy their time away knowing their pet is being cared for in a nurturing home-like environment.
Our unique facility was designed and built specifically for the purpose of pet care and boarding, and mimics the look and feel of home. We have furniture, yards, TV’s, music, grass, sunshine, and fresh air, just like dogs are used to having in their own homes and backyards.
In our many years of experience with dog care, boarding, and training we have learned what makes dogs happy and comfortable. We have taken that knowledge and integrated it directly into our brand new expansion. Socialization is vital to the happiness of dogs, whether it is human or canine companionship. We believe dogs need a sanitary, spacious, and safe environment to play in, both indoors and outdoors.
Years ago we had our own dog in need of daycare and socialization. We searched the area and didn’t find what we felt our pet needed. That’s when we began to research other facilities throughout the world to see what other concepts and ideas were out there.
Upon the opening of our first facility in the year 2000, we became innovators in the Reno/Sparks area in the concept of indoor/outdoor group play, as well as the European style of dog boarding which we call the “slumber party program.” In Europe this concept of group interaction, for both day care and boarding, has been in existence for decades. It is a natural approach where participating dogs are part of a social pack with human leaders. Proper selection of participants creates healthy interaction of big and small dogs alike which is quite beneficial.
Our new November 2008 expansion is also an innovation for our area. We still embrace our original concepts of group indoor/outdoor play, while introducing private luxury suites and condos for dogs that do not necessarily fit into the group boarding setting.
